Description
Adlen House is a timber-frame house with rendered infill, dating from the 17th century and remodelled in the early 19th century, with some mid-20th century alterations. It is located in Eardisland. The house has an L-shaped layout, with the original section extending to the west and a later addition to the south. The west gable features a brick chimney stack. The north front has two storeys and three windows, including a single-light casement to the left and a pair of two-light casements to the right. The ground floor incorporates two fixed casements. A flat canopy supported by shaped wooden brackets covers the main entrance, which is slightly left of centre and features a six-panel door. A gabled, 20th-century porch is located on the east front. In the 19th century, sections of the original timber frame were exposed on the north front, with one rectangular panel visible on the first floor, raised by the addition of another panel.
