Description

House. Dating from the late 17th century, it has undergone alterations since its original construction. The house is constructed with rendered and colourwashed walls, the upper storey displaying planked timbering, and the ground floor concealing flint and brick within thick walls. The roof is tiled, with a rebuilt brick chimney situated between the right bays. The house has two storeys and an attic, arranged with three bays. Windows are 20th-century 3-light leaded casements, matching French doors are in the centre bay, and there is a 19th-century gabled porch with a blocked entry between the right bays. A 20th-century lean-to has been added to the left. Further attic casements are found in the gables and rear dormers. The rear elevation features a tall, gabled projection for the staircase in the centre, as well as later projecting extensions to the flanking bays, with the left one slightly raised. An 18th-century colourwashed brick wing is attached to the north-east corner. The interior retains timber framing with long, curving braces to the first floor, arranged in five bays with a narrow central bay. Stop-chamfered cross beams are present, along with some re-used timbers. A winder staircase is also a feature.
