Description

Walnut Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Lower Radley. It features light timber framing with three panels deep and brick infill, topped by a gabled and hipped thatch roof with a brick ridge stack. The house has a four-unit plan and is one storey high, with a three-window range. The windows are late 19th or 20th-century casements, and there is a 20th-century glazed door to the right. A 20th-century kitchen extension is attached, with the main entry at the rear left, which adjoins a 18th-century plank door set in a heavy pegged frame. Inside, the cottage has a remodelled open fireplace and a queen-post truss to the right. It is a rare example of a one-storey dwelling.
