Description
Baker's Close is a house located in Lower Radley, dating from the late medieval period and remodeled in the 17th century, late 18th century, and mid-20th century. It features a cruck-framed structure clad in late 18th century colourwashed brick, with the cruck and yoke in the apex exposed on the left gable wall. The house has a gabled thatch roof with brick ridge and right end stacks. It is a three-unit hall house, consisting of one storey and an attic, and has a three-window range. There are three 20th century windows and gabled dormers. The house has 20th century extensions on all sides, including a porch facing the road on the right. Inside, there are four full crucks with through purlins, and the stack and first floor feature stop-chamfered beams that were inserted in the 17th century.
