Description
Nos. 57 and 61 are two cottages dating from the late 17th century. They feature light timber framing, consisting of two panels deep with angle bracing, and have a gabled and half-hipped roof covered in concrete tiles. The cottages have end stacks, with the left stack made of brick and the right stack finished in stone and brick. The layout is a three-unit plan over two storeys, with a three-window range.
The right cottage has a late 19th-century four-panelled door, while the left cottage has an 18th-century plank door. The windows are 20th-century casements. At the rear left, there is a one-storey service wing that is rendered over timber-frame, featuring a gabled roof covered in 20th-century tiles and an end stack made of stone finished in brick.
Inside, the cottages have chamfered ogee-stopped beams and a queen-post roof. There is also a timber-framed partition in No. 61.
