Description
The Agricultural Barn at Fulling Mill Farm is a building that dates from the late 17th century or 18th century. Originally used as a barn or stables, it has been converted into stables. The structure is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a plain tile roof. It features three timber-framed bays and has a coursed ragstone plinth that is higher on the east side due to the slope of the land. The barn is single-storey with a hipped roof that has a gablet on the left side.
There are three inserted windows: one two-light casement on the right, one pivoting casement on the left, and another on the left gable end. The barn has two stable doors and a small hatch above the plinth on the left gable end. At the rear, there is a lean-to addition. Inside, the barn showcases exposed framing that includes re-used timber. There are areas of lath and daub between the studs and weatherboarding, straight tie-beams with small arch-braces towards the ends, and a clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters made of relatively thin scantling. The barn is included for its group value.
