Description
Fulling Mill Farmhouse is a 15th-century farmhouse located on Caring Lane in Leeds. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infilling, while the left gable end is made of painted brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a hipped design. The building stands two storeys high on a stone plinth and has an open hall. The principal posts create six roughly equal bays, which may include three subdivided bays, with few studs exposed suggesting it is possibly close-studded. There are arch braces in the major left end bay.
The farmhouse has a multiple brick ridge stack towards the right end and a small brick stack at the rear of the left gable end. The windows are arranged irregularly, with a total of seven: five irregular casements featuring leaded lights (one with an original cill), a two-light mullioned window with subsidiary mullions beneath the stack, and a four-light window in the major right end bay. Additionally, there are two diamond mullion windows on the ground floor of the right end bay. Mortices in the posts of the fourth minor bay from the left may indicate the location of a former bay window in the hall. The entrance features a panelled door with a four-light rectangular top light to the left end of the major central bay, and there is a blocked door beneath the stack. A half-door leads to the first floor of the left gable end, which is built into a bank and accessed by four stone steps. The interior has not been inspected.
