Description
The Coach House, originally serving Milgate House, is a late 17th century or early 18th century building that was converted into a house in the late 20th century. It features chequered red and grey brick with a plain tile roof, standing two storeys tall with attics on a stone plinth and a string course. There are some alterations below the eaves. The roof is hipped at the right end and hipped with a gablet at the left end, with a small stack in the left hip. The building has three hipped dormers and irregular fenestration, including two mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights on the first floor and a 20th-century half-glazed door located off-centre to the right. The ground floor has six 20th-century French doors with segmental heads that are approximately in their original openings. There is a 19th-century extension to the left, which has two semi-circular-headed openings that formerly accommodated double doors, with top lights above. The area over these doors has been rebuilt in the 20th century. The Coach House is listed for its group value.
