Description

Spout House is a farmhouse dating back to the 14th century, with later additions and an 18th or early 19th century facade. It is timber-framed, with the ground floor finished in red brick and the first floor tile-hung. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building comprises a single-bay open hall flanked by storeyed bays, with a further storeyed bay at the right end, which may be an addition. It has two storeys and an attic, topped by a half-hipped roof. Two brick stacks are visible: one towards the left end and another on the front slope of the roof towards the right. Three gabled dormers were added in the early 20th century. The windows are irregularly placed and consist of four two-light casements. A half-glazed door is set within a rustic porch, beneath the left-hand stack. Inside, a fragment of the end-of-hall bressumer remains, featuring a roll and fillet moulding. A substantial, plain floor is also present. The interior was only partly inspected.
