Description

Wheatsheaf Farmhouse is a late 15th-century farmhouse. It is timber-framed and now clad in brick, with painted surfaces except at the right-hand end. The left gable end is tile-hung on the first floor, and the roof is covered in plain tiles, hipped at both ends. The building originally comprised a two-bay open hall with a single-storeyed bay at each end. It has two storeys, standing on a plinth. A brick ridge stack is positioned off-centre to the left of the building. The windows are irregularly placed, consisting of four 2- and 3-light casements. There is a panelled front door with two top lights, set within an open timber porch beneath the stack. Inside, the house features a moulded central crown-post and a moulded central truss post. It has plain exposed beams and posts, along with arch-braces to the wall-plates. A rear lean-to has been integrated into the building.
