Description

The farmhouse on Hazel Street Road in Stockbury dates to the 15th century. It is a timber-framed building, largely clad in red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with applied studs and brick infilling on the first floor. Sections of the first floor are tile-hung, while the ground floor at the left end is flint with brick dressings and at the right end is constructed of chequered red and grey brick. The roof is tiled and hipped at both ends. The farmhouse originally comprised five bays: an open hall of two unequal bays with a storeyed end to the left and likely a storeyed end to the right. A bay was rebuilt in the late 18th century and another added to the left in the 19th century. The building stands on a rendered plinth. A multiple brick stack is located on the front slope of the roof, slightly left of centre. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of five 20th-century casement windows. A cross-ribbed door is positioned slightly right of the stack, sheltered by a plain porch. The interior features a moulded end to the hall beam, a large inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and posts, and likely a crown-post roof.
