Description
Hill Cottage is a farmhouse, now divided into houses, dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features timber framing with plastered infill, a thatched roof, and brick ridge stacks. The building has a three-unit lobby-entry plan and is two storeys high. The entrance is located to the right of the centre, and the fenestration is irregular. The walls consist of three tiers of panels above a rubble plinth, and the roof is half-hipped. The right gable wall, which faces the road, includes a two-storey canted bay window beneath a tiled gable that has ornamental bargeboard and a finial, although the windows have been renewed. Inside, there are large fireplaces in the central stack, beams with ogee chamfer stops, and the front door features 17th-century panelling at the rear.
