Description

Box Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 17th century. It has a two-unit plan with a lobby entry, although a rear wing or outshut has recently been demolished. The building features a substantial timber frame consisting of five bays, which is plastered, with plastered brick on the ground floor of the south-west and south-east walls. The roof is modern and covered with plain tiles, and there is a rebuilt ridge stack. The south-east elevation has two storeys and includes five casement windows of various sizes, along with a modern gabled, closed porch on the north-east side. Inside, there are two inglenook hearths and exposed floor and wall frames.
