Description
This is a 17th and 18th century house and cottage located on the south side of Tiddington, near Thame. The building is constructed from limestone rubble, with some brick and timber framing, and has thatched and old plain-tile roofs. It consists of a three-unit plan joined to a single-unit plan. The front is four windows wide, with the right-hand bay built of coursed rubble and the remainder of uncoursed rubble featuring brickwork at first floor level. Tudor Cottage, on the right, has a doorway and window between two-light casement windows, all set under segmental arches. It also has two-light casements and a small, blocked early window at the first floor. The Cottage to the left is similar, with a door and casement window, and a small window above. The right two bays of the building have a thatched roof, while the remainder has a tiled roof, each with a central stack and a half-hip. The right gable wall is brick, with three tiers of casements. The rear of the building includes a gabled dormer, a tiled rubble outshut, and a two-storey timber-framed and brick wing. Inside Tudor Cottage, there is an open fireplace with a bread oven and two-panel and plank doors. The right-hand bay is likely the oldest part of the building.
