Description
Albury House and Albury Grange comprise a house dating from the early and late 17th century. The house is timber-framed, with some areas plastered and colourwashed brick, and has a thatched roof with brick stacks. It follows a four-unit plan, with one storey and attics. The front of the house features a 20th-century porch to the right of centre, with a small two-light casement window to its right. To the left are two wider timber-framed bays, each with a large 20th-century casement window at ground floor. There are three half-dormers on the roof. The half-hipped roof has a stack at the rear of the left bay, which has an early stone and brick base, and another stack positioned between the two buildings. The left gable wall has been rebuilt in brick, with tile hanging on the gable. The right gable is timber-framed. The rear of the building is largely obscured by a large 20th-century wing, now a separate dwelling named Albury Grange, and a later outshut. Inside, exposed timber framing is visible on the first floor, alongside a staircase next to the central stack. A first-floor fireplace features an early egg and dart surround. The roof is a clasped purlin roof with straight windbraces.
