Description

Number 19 (The Cross) and 19B are two houses located on the north side of Long Wittenham High Street. They date from the 17th century, with an 18th-century brick encasement and a 20th-century addition to the first floor. The buildings are cruck-framed, featuring red brick with random grey headers on the ground floor and 20th-century red brick on the first floor. They have a thatched roof with brick end stacks and a ridge stack at the center.

The houses are two stories tall and have a five-window range. There are plank doors with gabled hoods on the left and right of the center. A part-glazed plank door is located in the center, topped with a segmental brick head. To the left, there is a three-light casement window with a segmental brick head, and a two-light casement window to the left of center. To the right and right of center, there are four-light casements, while the first floor has three-light casements on the left and right. Additionally, there are two two-light casements to the left of center. Notably, Number 19 has three cruck trusses that have been sawn off above beam level.
