Description
May Tree Cottage is a house located on Long Wittenham High Street, dating back to the 15th century with a late 17th-century encasement. The structure features cruck framing and large timber framing with rendered infill, topped by a thatched roof and a brick end stack on the left side. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has a two-window range. The central entrance is a plank door, which is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch. On either side of the door, there are two-light wood casement windows. The cottage also has two swept dormers. The rear showcases large timber framing with brick infill, and inside, there are two full cruck trusses with arch-braced collars. A chamfered spine beam is present at the centre of the ground floor, accompanied by chamfered joists.
