Description

Two houses, numbers 19 and 21 Greenhill, were built in the 18th century, although incorporating elements of an earlier timber-frame structure. The houses are constructed of brick with a tile roof and brick end stacks. They are two storeys high with a three-window facade. A prominent brick band runs along the top of the building, and there is a decorative brick cornice with modillions. Two segmental-headed doorways are situated to the right of the centre; one now has a 20th-century door, while the other is boarded. The ground floor has three segmental-headed windows, the leftmost possibly originally an entrance. Two windows have casements with 20th-century shutters, while the rightmost window is boarded. The first floor features a small segmental-headed window to the left, one with a casement and shutters, and a six-pane casement window to the right. Large and small brick stacks are positioned at each end of the building. The rear of the properties includes a large hipped wing and a smaller timber-framed gabled wing with brick infill. The timber-framed wing features a collar and tie beam truss with queen struts. In 1990, number 21 was boarded up and empty.
