Description
41, 43, and 45 Tamworth Street are three houses that have been converted into one house and two shops. They likely date from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a 20th-century rear wing and a 20th-century front on No. 45. The buildings feature a timber frame with brick and some plaster, topped by a tiled roof that has a hipped end on the wing and a brick stack at the rear of the ridge. The structure is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with a cross wing at the right end. No. 41 displays some exposed brick and a plastered first floor, while No. 43 has a plastered brick ground floor and timber framing with plastered infill above. No. 45 features a brick front with a parapet. There are two entrances with 20th-century doors. The ground floor includes a casement window at the left end and plate glass shop windows, with No. 45 having a shop front with a fascia. The first floor has three-light casements, with No. 45 having three windows. Inside, there are chamfered beams and joists; No. 45 has exposed timber-framed cross walls, a large rear fireplace with an offset stack to the first floor, and heavy timbers in the rear gable.
