Description

Red Lion Farmhouse and attached farm buildings are located on Britwell Hill Road. The farmhouse dates from the mid to late 18th century and was extended at the rear in the early 19th century. It is constructed of flint rubble with brick quoins and dressings, featuring a gabled roof covered with 20th-century tiles and a brick stack on the right end. The building is L-shaped with a rear right wing and has two storeys with a three-window range. There are segmental brick arches above a blocked door and 20th-century two-light casements, as well as a flat brick arch and timber lintels over 20th-century casements on the first floor. The eaves are decorated with brick dentils. The early 19th-century rear wing also has two storeys and a three-window range, built in similar materials and style, with segmental arches above 8-pane sash windows on the left. The interior has not been inspected.

There are subsidiary features including an early 19th-century stable or cartshed and a barn to the left. These structures are made of flint rubble with brick crossbanding and have gabled roofs covered with Welsh slate. The stable or cartshed has segmental brick arches over a 20th-century window and double doors. The barn features louvred ventilation slits, a blocked front doorway, rear plank double doors, and a four-bay queen-post roof.
