Description

Red House Farmhouse is an 18th-century house with a new front block and attached farm buildings added in the early 19th century. The original house is rendered, while the 19th-century parts are constructed of squared stone with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings. The roofs are made of Welsh slate, and the 18th-century stacks have been partly rebuilt in yellow brick.

The north elevation features a two-storey, three-bay house that is symmetrical. There is a central altered six-panel door with a 20-pane sash window above it, flanked by 16-pane sash windows, all set in alternating-block surrounds. The ends have stepped-and-corniced stacks, and there is a 20th-century pent porch on the right.

To the right, the farm building range is set back and includes a segmental-arched yard entrance, a 16-pane casement window on the left, and a boarded pitching door on the right, with a hipped roof sloping to the right.

On the rear elevation, the 18th-century house to the right has a central renewed door in a raised stone surround. The farm building to the left features a segmental arch and various windows, including some that are part-slatted and one 16-pane Yorkshire sash.

The 20th-century porch and the altered farm building range to the southwest are not considered of special interest.
