Description

The entrance screen and gates to Sandhoe Hall, dated 1870, are constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings, wood, and cast iron. The design features a tall four-centred arch that supports panelled double gates, with open panels above the rail. The heavy ornamental ironwork includes a fleur-de-lys cresting. Flanking the entrance are gabled buttresses, and a flat-coped parapet rises over a dated tablet displaying the Errington arms. The lower walls on either side have pedestrian entrances with pointed arches and studded panelled doors. This structure has significant landscape value as it marks the approach to the village.
