Description

Court Cottage, Baldon House Cottage, and an outbuilding are two houses and an outbuilding dating from the 17th century and early 18th century. They feature timber framing with brick infill, coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings, and an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The L-shaped range includes two lobby-entry plans and is two storeys high.

Court Cottage, which projects to the left, has timber framing on a high rubble plinth. The present entrance front faces left and has 20th-century casements at the first floor, a blocked two-light window, and a triangular-headed recess containing the date 1608 (or 1668). The original front, facing right, has three blocked windows at the first floor, a similar recess, and a blocked entrance aligned with a large stack that features decorative side strips.

In the centre of the main range is the two-window front of Baldon House Cottage, constructed in coursed rubble with brick dressings. The ground-floor casements and central doorway have segmented arches, and above the door is a date stone inscribed "1719/L/IE". Connecting to Court Cottage is a rubble bay with later windows, and to the right is an outbuilding that has light timber-framing at the first floor and is likely from the 19th century. The front gable of Court Cottage is half-hipped. The interiors have not been inspected. This building is part of the subsidiary structures associated with Baldon House.
