Description
This building is a barn and an attached animal house, located approximately 55 meters northeast of Upper Chalford Farmhouse. The barn likely dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of red brick featuring random flared headers in English bond. It has large timber framing with weatherboarding and an old plain-tile half-hipped roof, consisting of four bays. There are double plank doors to the right of the center and opposing doors at the rear. The roof has a curved principal design and retains most of its original common rafters.
The attached animal house, which is from the 19th century, is positioned at a right angle to the left of the barn. It has a red brick base and light timber framing with weatherboarding, topped with an old plain-tile roof that is hipped to the left. This single-storey structure also features a four-bay range with plank doors and irregular openings.
