Description

This milestone, located approximately 350 meters southeast of the junction with the B4027, dates from the early 18th century and is made of limestone. It has a tapering shape with an oval plan and a rounded top. The south face is inscribed with "XLIX/Miles From/London/To Oxford/V", which appears to be partly re-cut over a damaged surface. The road was turnpiked in 1719 by The Stokenchurch and Enslow Trust.
