Description

This milestone, located approximately 98 meters west of the junction with Merewood Avenue, dates from the early 18th century and is made of limestone. It has a tapering shape with a rounded top and is inscribed with the following text: "LI/ Miles From/ London/ III / Miles to/ Oxford". The road on which it stands was turnpiked in 1719 by the Stokenchurch and Enslow Trust.
