Description
The Old House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a rear section that may be from the mid-18th century. It features a construction of limestone rubble and ashlar quoins, with a brick front, topped by an old plain-tile roof and brick stacks. The house has a central-passage plan with rear and subsidiary wings and stands two storeys high.
The symmetrical front of the main range has three windows and is built in Flemish bond with flared headers. It includes three-light Gothick windows on either side of the central door, with a two-light window above it. All windows have small panes and stone flat arches. There is a moulded ovolo stone eaves cornice beneath the hipped roof. To the left, an irregular rat-trap bond brick and tiled range features additional Gothick windows. The gable wall of the rubble rear wing has a tall window above a central bay. A further rubble brick and tiled range to the left connects to the subsidiary wing.
