Description
The Old Parsonage is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of coursed and uncoursed limestone rubble, featuring some ashlar dressings and timber lintels, topped with an old plain-tile roof and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan and stands two storeys high.
The earlier range at the rear has an entrance with an early 18th-century hood supported by scroll brackets, flanked by 2-light casements. Above the door, there is a 3-light casement, and to the left, another 2-light casement. The lower range to the left includes a 3-light casement and a hipped dormer, along with a small projecting rubble wing at the extreme left. The casements are fitted with 18th-century leaded lights, some featuring 4-centred heads.
To the right, a later range adjacent to the road showcases ashlar quoins, lintels, and flush banding, as well as a stone eaves cove and gable parapet. The four-window facade facing the road has a blocked door to the left of centre, with a blocked window above it. To the right, there are pairs of sash windows with a blocked subsidiary door at the extreme right, and to the left, single windows, with the lower sash replaced by a 3-light casement. The interior has not been inspected.
