Description

No. 40 High Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble with squared quoins and features timber lintels. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and has brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan that has been extended to three units. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window front. There is a blocked door to the right of the center, flanked by two-light casements from the earlier section. An added bay to the left contains the current entrance, with two-light casements on the left and at the first floor. All the casements are from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. This house is included for its group value.
