Description

The King and Queen Public House is an inn, now functioning as a public house, dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a remodel in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, featuring a plain-tile roof and brick stacks. The building has a four-unit main range with two rear wings and stands two storeys plus attics high.

The five-window front has central bays that project forward, adorned with two rendered gables, a plinth, and a second-floor storey band. It includes two-light casements with keyblocks and an entrance to the right of the centre, which is framed by a wide triangular-pedimented architrave. The gables feature two-light casements. The bay to the right of the break has stone flat arches, while the bay to the left showcases a three-light stone-mullioned window on the first floor, complete with ovolo mouldings and a label. Below this, a similar two-light window has been blocked by a four-light casement. The left end gable has a stone parapet and a brick stack, with a large stack featuring two diamond shafts located one bay to the right. The lower, irregular rear wings contain casements and dormers.

Inside, there is a Tudor-arched moulded stone fireplace in the main range and a large open fireplace with a bressumer in the rear wing.
