Description
Mitcheldene is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble with timber lintels and features a plain-tile roof with a stone and brick stack. The building has a three-unit plan with a rear outshut and stands two storeys tall. The front has four windows and a door located to the right of the centre. To the right of the door is a 19th-century shop window, and there are three-light casements at both the extreme right and left. There is a second doorway at the extreme left. On the first floor, the windows include casements with two and three lights, with the window above the main entrance featuring small nine-pane lights. A massive stack is positioned to the left of centre. The interior has not been inspected. This building was formerly used as the village school.
