Description
Carters Yard is a house located on Burdrop Road in Sibford Gower, dating from around 1600 with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof with a brick end stack. It has an L-plan layout and is two storeys high. The ground floor includes a 2-light wood mullioned window alongside some 20th-century windows. In the attic, there is a reset 2-light lancet window. A thatched staircase bulge is present on the left side of the building, and the entrance is located in a single-storey thatched section to the left of the main structure, featuring a plank door with a wood lintel. The building also has small rectangular 20th-century windows in wood frames. Inside, there are stud walls, beams, joists, and a fireplace with a bressumer. The site is historically significant as it was once known as Tantony and is important for its group value.
