Description

Quince Cottage is a house formed from the combination of two earlier dwellings, dating to circa 1645 and circa 1820, located on Bond’s End Lane in Sibford Gower. The older, left-hand part of the house is built of squared coursed ironstone and coursed ironstone rubble, featuring stone quoins and a contemporary tile roof with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan, two storeys plus an attic, and a two-window front. The rear entrance is positioned centrally. The ground floor now has modern casement windows with arched stone heads. The first floor retains two 19th-century metal casements, notably with wrought-iron fasteners and lead cames. A similar attic window is present, with a timber lintel. The right-hand part of the house, dating to circa 1645, is constructed from squared coursed ironstone, with a steeply pitched tile roof and brick end stacks. It also has a two-unit plan, with a rear outshot, and two storeys, arranged as a two-window front. The rear entrance is positioned centrally. The ground floor features a three-light and a two-light metal casement window set within timber frames, and similar windows are found on the first floor. These windows also include wrought-iron fasteners and springs, and lead cames, with chamfered timber lintels. The interior of the property has not been inspected. The property was previously marked on Ordnance Survey maps as Homeleigh.
