Description
Lane Head is a late 17th-century building that has been converted from two houses into one dwelling. It features squared coursed ironstone and coursed rubble, with some burnt stones, and is topped by a steeply pitched thatched roof. The building has brick ridge and end stacks and a five-unit plan, consisting of a single storey plus an attic with a five-window range in the attic. The entrance, located on the left, includes a plank door with a moulded wood frame and a wood lintel, and is sheltered by an open thatched porch. The ground floor has four 20th-century windows set in original openings, each with wood lintels. To the left, the attic features a two-light casement window and a single-light stone-framed window above the porch. On the right side, there are three two-light stone mullioned eyebrow dormers, each with hood moulds and label stops, as well as lead cames and wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs. The interior has not been inspected.
