Description

Pond Cottage is a house, likely dating to the late 17th or early 18th century. It is marked on Ordnance Survey maps as thatched. The construction is of coursed ironstone rubble, with a steeply pitched thatched roof, brick ridge stones, and brick end stacks. The house follows a 3-unit plan, with a single storey and attic. It has a 5-window attic range. A 20th-century porch now provides the entrance, which is accessed via a 4-panelled door. The entrance is flanked by a 20th-century bay window. A 3-light casement window with a timber lintel is located to the left. There are two half-dormers, each with a wood casement and a timber lintel. The left end of the building has wood-framed windows inserted into stone frames, these fitted with hood moulds and label stops. The interior has not been inspected.
