Description
Barton Mill Farmhouse and the barn attached to its left are a single building dating from the early 18th century. Constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble, the farmhouse features steeply pitched thatched roofs and brick ridge stacks set on stone bases. The farmhouse has a four-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic with a three-window range. The entrance, located off-centre to the left, has a six-panelled door with an overlight and hood. To the right, there is a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel and a canted bay window. On the left, there are two 20th-century windows with wooden lintels. The attic includes two half dormers with three- and four-light casements in wooden frames, as well as a two-light casement with a wooden lintel. The front elevation shows traces of limewashing. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered beam. The barn features a wide entrance with a wooden lintel and a three-light stone mullioned window on the left above the door. It has a principal rafter roof.
