Description
No. 4 School Road is a house that was originally two cottages, dating from the early 19th century, with an 18th-century building to the left. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled roof covered with plain tiles from the late 19th century, along with brick stacks at each end. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. The central door, which is from the 20th century, has timber lintels above it, as does the adjoining window. To the left, there is a late 19th-century horned two-light sash window. On the right, there are 19th-century and 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, both of which also have chamfered timber lintels. The one-storey 18th-century building to the left, which was a former smithy, is constructed of limestone rubble and has a pantile roof. Inside, the property features plain beams. This building is included for its group value.
