Description

The Rock and Rock Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations from the late 18th and 19th centuries, and 20th-century changes. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone, with the attic storey built of coursed limestone rubble. The roof is covered in slate, and there are brick end stacks, one to the right which sits on a stone base. The original design featured three windows across the front, with two entrances. There is a renewed four-panelled door with a wood lintel, alongside a panelled glazed door with a divided overlight and a 20th-century open porch. The ground floor has two renewed sash windows with glazing bars, each with a wood lintel; the lintel on the left is chamfered. The first floor has two sash windows with glazing bars and wood lintels, and a central two-light wooden casement with a chamfered wood lintel. The attic has two small wooden casement windows with glazing bars, and a central blocked window. The interior remains uninspected. This building is listed for its group value.
