Description
Mavis Bank is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of squared, uncoursed limestone with an artificial stone slate roof and brick stacks. The house is two storeys and an attic, with three bays. A 20th-century window is present on the right side, a one-light window with a wooden lintel in the centre, and a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel to the left. A tall, central window, also with a wooden lintel, extends through the first floor and mezzanine levels. A window to the left has a wooden lintel and a two-light iron casement, while a similar window to the right has a stone surround. All windows are fitted with leaded panes, and there are 20th-century dormers in the roof. The gables are coped, with kneelers. The entrance is at the rear. A 19th-century extension is located to the right, constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble with a slate roof, and featuring a 20th-century two-storey bay window. The interior was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
