Description
The Court is a house that features a reset datestone reading D/JM/1666, with 19th and 20th century alterations and additions. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a steeply pitched stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses. The gables are renewed with stone copings and moulded kneelers, and there are stone stacks at the ends. The house has a central staircase plan with a rear wing, forming an L-shape. It is two storeys tall with a basement and has a three-window range.
Access to the entrance is via a flight of stone steps that has a balustrade at the top. The entrance features a Tuscan porch with a flat hood, and a six-panelled door with moulded stone architraves. The entrance is flanked by 20th century windows set in stone surrounds with stone lintels. The three first-floor windows are similar and have a continuous hood mould, which also extends over the ground floor. The basement includes a 20th century casement window with small panes. There is a dentilled stone eaves cornice. At the rear, there is a single-storey plus attic kitchen wing from the 19th or 20th century. The interior contains 19th century fireplaces, but it has not been inspected.
