Description

Highland Cottage and Above the Well Cottage are a pair of houses built in the mid-18th century, with alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone, and have a steeply pitched, continuous thatched roof, with a stone end stack on the right-hand side. The houses follow a two-unit plan. A 20th-century porch with a hipped roof sits at the front, flanked by 20th-century wooden casement windows with painted wooden lintels. The first floor has two two-light windows of a similar design. A fire plaque is present. Limestone quoins mark the corners of the building. A cottage abuts the right-hand side. The entrance to the left features a plank door and wooden lintel, alongside a two-light wooden casement window also with a wooden lintel. The first floor has two matching two-light windows. The interiors have not been inspected.
