Description
Willaston Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with additions from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and repairs made in the late 20th century. The main front, dating from the 19th century, features squared coursed limestone and has a hipped slate roof with brick ridge stacks. The building has an irregular L-plan and is two storeys high with a five-window range. The central bay is pedimented, and there is a central entrance with a panelled and glazed door, accompanied by a 19th-century porch. The ground floor has two sash windows and the first floor has three sash windows, all with glazing bars.
At the rear, there is a lower late 18th-century range, also constructed of squared coursed limestone, with a slate roof and brick stacks. This section is two storeys high and has a six-window range. There are two entrances, each with panelled doors; one features a hood while the other has an arched brick head. The ground floor includes five casement windows and one sash window with glazing bars, while the first floor has six casement windows. Most openings have wood lintels, lead cames, and wrought-iron casement fasteners.
A 19th-century double-depth extension at the rear of the late 18th-century section has hipped M-shaped roofs. An early 20th-century extension to the 19th-century main part is designed in a 19th-century style. Inside the late 18th-century section, there are stone flag floors, chamfered beams, an 18th-century staircase, window seats, shutters, and four-panelled doors with H/L hinges.
