Description

Hethe Cottage is an early 18th-century farmhouse, now a house. The roof was raised in the 18th century, with further alterations and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a steeply pitched slate roof and brick end stacks. The building is in an L-shape, with a 3-window front. The central entrance has a panelled-glazed door within a moulded wooden frame, topped by a 20th-century hood. Flanking the entrance are 20th-century bay windows. The first floor has three 3-light metal casement windows in wooden frames, featuring lead cames and wooden lintels. Two 20th-century roof dormers are present. A datestone inscribed "1802" is above the door. A 19th-century addition extends to the rear. The added rear section contains early 19th-century fittings, including an Adam style fireplace, moulded ceiling cornices, and painted panelling.
