Description

Hethe House is a house from the late 18th century with 19th-century additions, constructed from coursed limestone rubble and topped with a hipped slate roof. It features brick end stacks and has a double-depth plan across three storeys, with a five-window range. The central entrance includes a six-panelled door set within a moulded wood frame that has console brackets and an overlight with geometrically patterned glazing bars. Flanking the entrance are 12-pane and 16-pane sash windows, all with stucco surrounds linking the storeys. Each of the first and second floors has five sash windows with glazing bars, and all sashes are unhorned.

The garden front at the rear has a two-storey, three-window range, with a central double-leaved panelled-glazed door and an overlight within a doorcase featuring shallow brackets and a cornice. The overlight displays an elaborate fan pattern of glazing. On either side of the door are tripartite sashes, with the ground floor featuring 8-pane sashes and the first floor having 20-pane sashes, along with a central 12-pane sash. All windows have stucco surrounds linked between the storeys, and there is a brick lateral stack to the centre left. Hethe House is said to have been the Dower House of Shelswell Park in the 18th century.
