Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with later additions from the late 17th century, 18th century, and 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a 20th-century plain tile roof. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, the building now has an irregular cross-shape and stands two storeys tall.

The elevation facing High Street consists of four bays, with the bay to the left of the centre projecting forward as a gabled wing. To the right, there is a two-window range featuring differing, unhorned, 19th-century sashes with glazing bars, all set under stone and wood lintels. A six-panel door is located between the windows, also under a wood lintel. The bay to the right is from the 19th century, while the gable end of the projecting wing and the bay to the left are blank. The right side has an ashlar gable parapet, and there are stone and ashlar ridge and end stacks.

The return wall of the projecting wing, which forms the end bay of the garden front, has a 19th-century sash window under a wood lintel on the first floor and a 20th-century French door below. The central bay of the garden front features two- and four-light, ovolo-moulded, stone mullion windows on the ground floor, and a similar two-light window on the first floor. The range to the left is from the late 17th century and has lower eaves with four eaves dormers, which are probably from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have remains of an open fireplace in the central room.
