Description
Pear Tree Cottage is a house with origins in the 17th century and alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. Originally designed as a two-unit structure, it has been adapted to a three-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic. The front has a three-window range of 20th-century casements with glazing bars, set beneath original wooden lintels. There are two similar casements in the attic, located under eyebrow dormers at the center and right, with the center dormer having a pointed head. The central window on the ground floor was originally a door. Stone stacks are present at both ends of the building, and there is evidence of two phases of construction in the center of the range. The entrance is located in a 20th-century single-storey extension at the rear. Inside, there are remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer, and it is said to retain some old roof structure.
