Description

The Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a steeply pitched thatched roof, renewed brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a three-unit plan, plus a cartshed entrance on the left. It is a single storey plus an attic, with a three-window front. The off-centre entrance to the left has a partly glazed plank door within a wooden frame, under a wooden lintel, and features a 20th-century porch. To the left of the entrance is a three-light metal casement window in a wooden frame, with renewed lead cames, an original wrought-iron casement fastener, and a wooden lintel. To the right is a similar three-light window, and a two-light 20th-century window. The attic has a hall-dormer with a two-light metal casement window in a wooden frame, renewed lead cames, sheet glass, and a wrought-iron spring. There are also two 20th-century eyebrow dormers. The cart entrance on the far left has wide plank doors.
