Description
The Butchers Arms Public House is a building dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The 17th-century section is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof with a brick ridge stack. It has a two-unit plan and is a single storey plus attic. The rear elevation includes a three-light casement window and a sash window on the ground floor, both with wood lintels, and a small two-light casement window in the attic floor, which has lead cames and crown glass. There is a blocked entrance and a semi-circular staircase bulge.
The 18th-century range that faces the road is made of squared coursed limestone and has a slate roof with a brick end stack. The approximately central entrance features a 20th-century door with an overlight and wood lintel, flanked by 16-pane sash windows in flush wood frames, also with wood lintels. The first floor has two similar windows. The interiors have not been inspected.
