Description

The Cottage is an early 19th-century house situated on the south side of Islip Road, Bletchingdon. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof and brick end stacks. The house has a double-depth plan and a rear outshut. The symmetrical facade features three windows on each floor. The front entrance is a six-panelled door, topped by a semi-circular arch with impost stones and sheltered by a gabled stone porch. The windows are 6-pane sashes, each set within a flat stone arch. The interior retains boxed beams, two-panelled doors, cupboards with H-L hinges on the left side, a plank door, and an early 19th-century fireplace at the rear.
