Description

The Row is a row of 13 cottages, now reduced to 7, dating from 1794. A datestone indicates the year of construction. The cottages are situated on The Green (south side) and the Oxford Road, arranged in an L-shape with fronts facing both locations. They are built of coursed limestone rubble, with a gabled roof covered in artificial stone slates and brick ridge and end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a 26-window range. Timber lintels are above the 20th-century doors, which are set in old, heavily-pegged frames, and also above the 20th-century windows. Gabled roof dormers are present. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages were restored in 1954.
